I would imagine Germany low birth rate in the 20s and 30s had a lot to do with the fact many men had been killed in WWI and the economy being so bad.

My wife was born in a Norwegian Lebensborn home at the end of the war. She was brought to Germany when the German army withdrew from Norway. Somehow she ended up in Sweden and was adopted there. She only got the full story when she was 64. A remarkable story that became a book "Nowhere's Child".

It seems there’s no end to learning something new about WWII. Thank you for the history lesson. What a terrifying time it had to be.

I had a music professor in Austria who was a child born from the match making program in a breeding camp. She dedicated a class every semester to teaching about it. It was the first I had ever heard of it.

First time seeing an episode with Anna as a host and her voice is absolutely perfect for this type of narration. I usually use content like this as a wind down after work before bed just listening to the audio visualising it in my head instead of watching and i want to say thanks by commenting and liking for the algorithm. Absolutely brilliant.

Great presentation. The infant mortality rate as well as the general poor conditions were really eye opening. Thank you.

Sad Fact: I had cousins in Norway who were murdered by the Nazis in reprisal killings in their "ten for one" occupation policy......so much for Nordic unity.
