I like how in Lake Placid, despite the water being shallow and calm enough to stand up and run out of, the guy struggles to drag himself forward, the other humans don't help, and the giant crocodile takes its sweet time. However, the Mokey show, by cutting a few scenes, makes the moment more intense, like the crocodile grabbed Mokey very suddenly, not giving his friends the chance to save him, and the screaming sells the moment more than the original.
