According to the news on radio 4 this morning this advert has been the first to be banned under gender stereotyping advertising law alongside another advert for Volkswagen

Funny thing is, I would have never seen these ads without them being banned.
HattieBamsey (18 minutes ago)
To be honest, I'm glad there was an advert that showed dads looking after their own kids!
Eastendsunset (27 minutes ago)
I just checked my clock and it's officially 1984.

This is what happens when we don't have a war for a while...
allabouteve3290 (47 minutes ago)
hey maybe that's the way to go - get your ad banned - curiosity gets more public viewing ;-)
MrSam6462 (51 minutes ago)
This ad is absolutely brilliant. I'm a full time dad and this made me laugh. Gonna get myself a Philadelphia

EVERYTHING on TV could be deemed as offensive depending on who's looking at it. What about banning foreign holiday ads? People with no or little money never go abroad - for them those ads could be highly offensive....but do they moan? No. So whoever complained about this ad - belt up.

I am offended that some people were offended.

Imagine if the ad had instead featured women in the male roles - placing the babies down on the conveyor belt, snacking on the philly, then husbands dash in to rescue the kids. That would have shattered the stereotypes... and there would have been thousands of complaints about it instead of about 180 - a. for men having to come in and save the day, b. for even suggesting women can't look after kids, and c. that women need men for... well... anything. There's no possible way an advertiser can win. They'd be better off resorting to ads that feature no humans at all, and have gender neutral computer-generated voice-overs.

This is... was an advert that had entirely passed me by. Now, thanks to the Nanny State ban, I have sought it out, reminded myself that I hadn’t had ‘Filly’ for ages and went out and bought some. Arguably the PC Brigade may have unwittingly unleashed a desire by ad agencies to create potentially proscribed commercials as the free publicity (from the banning) could boost the product far more than the actual advert.

This is one of the most edgy adverts out there. I am totally shook and so so offended by this. ( Sarcam ) The tyrannical government are focussed on banning harmless adverts like this when there are shows like love Island and Big Brother etc that do more to perpetuate harmful stereotypes than any advert could ever hope to achieve.

I’m offended - what kind of guy eats Philadelphia cheese
mzingayemubaya4096 (15 hours ago)

"There's no such thing as bad publicity!"
chanicedoran2971 (16 hours ago)
I don't see how it's offensive they were just enjoying some philadelphia, they don't ban movies or songs with stereotypes in?
Greenwillow (14 hours ago)
Will someone explain to me whats so bloody offensive about this ad.
nobleite (6 hours ago)
I do get tired of seeing dad's look like dummies. I still intend to buy cheese by my standards, not some dumb ad.
