I think some people misheard what I said. The Leafs were looking at the deal even after the Muzzin trade. It wasn’t one or the other. Muzzin was already on the team and Dubas was still looking to add. This deal fell apart closer to deadline day if not on deadline day.

Absolute zero way LA trades Doughty unless there’s a package with Marner in it. If not, the Kings are perfectly fine with keeping their franchise D. As to why Leafs fans think they can build a team around 3-4 $10M+ players is beyond me. I’d worry about getting past the first round before I start mortgaging everything.

My insiders are telling me the D they were after was Dougie Hamilton . Apparently the asking price was to steep and would've involved a draft pick, either Kapanen or Johnsson and either Sandin or Liligren. The Leafs would've agreed to part with those players had Carolina also taken Zaitsev. They weren't willing to and that's where the talks fell apart.....you're welcome!!

Doughty or Subban likely. Ekblad is off the table imo. Not as well known and is more than likely franchised in Florida unless they get a major deal for him.(which I believe a lot of teams are gun shy on)

It was Dougie Hamilton but they wanted Nylander plus so it didn't go threw. No way LA trades Doughty after just signing him long term and no way Florida trades Exblad until they see if they sign Panarin and Bobrovsky in the offseason.

Why do people think Marleau cant be moved? If he really cares about Mitch and Auston hed help them and the team. Retire or just bought out. The caps bought out Orpik and immediately brought him back for cheaper. The NHL didn't condemn this so by precedent the Leafs could easily do the same thing.

Brown was a OHL scoring champ who excels at all aspects of the game. He was playing the role he was given by the leafs coaching staff. He could have been much more of an offensive force but that was not his role in their scheme.

I still don’t see how anyone would be proud to be a Dubas fan. Sure he drafts for skill, but not for character. Our players get pushed around but are afraid to push back. And everyone wonders why the team won’t play up to their potential. It’s because they are degraded by the constant bullying from other teams. This game will eat cowards alive.

Of the Defence mentioned I think only Doughty would make sense for the Kings to move out.Nylander would almost certianly be the guy traded for Doughty.Also they would have to move Zaitsev out and Brown out to keep him long term.Doughty makes 11 million starting next offseason.Cant have tavares(11)matthews (11.6 ) Marner (10.5?) Nylander (7) and Doughty (11) Roughly 51 million on 5 players.Heck even without Nylander trying to ice a competitive roster with 4 guys taking half your cap is poor cap management.

I can see toronto getting a defence or 2 players before the start of the season only thing im not a fan of was the nylander signing we are better with out him and use that cash for the defence or a good dependable back up

Well Gardiner is definitely gone and they need a right handed D Man, the issue is several contracts they have guys signed to currently that don't offer a lot in terms of asset to another interested club. Kadri could be traded but what team wants a head case center who disqualifies himself every postseason? Marleau's not going anywhere, Zaitsev isn't going anywhere, and there's not a lot beyond that unless Nylander or Marner are a part of it. If the Leafs are looking for an Elite D Man to accompany Rielly they are going to have to be extremely creative and offer something big in return, it will be interesting to say the least. In my opinion the Leafs biggest issue is their system that they play in under their head coach which needs to change and stop leaving their Goaltender out to dry every other period.
