The most professional people in any line of work are polite.
WilliamMarceloPaiva (9 minutes ago)
He should have asked "...will you enter..." instead of "...do you enter".
k1mgy (18 minutes ago)
"what taxiway do you enter the ramp ?"
detaart (28 minutes ago)
He is a real class act this guy.

Ground controllers are obliged to give pilots the benefit of the doubt in any situation and to be calm and professional. Fuck this airport - it sounded worrying close to chaos.
dwightstewart7181 (46 minutes ago)
Hell, I can hardly understand that ATC. What taxiway do you enter the ramp? What does that mean? Regardless, while working at an international airport (with foreign pilots), you have to realize not all are going to easily understand your quick ramblings. You have to speak a bit more slowly and clearly - and not with what sounds like a New Jersey “street” accent.

What we've got here is.... Failure to communicate.. lol. One thing I've learned from the limited experience, 1. be nice to your controller.. they can help you out in a big way, or they can really make hell for you. 2. In this situation, it really take 2 to tango.... both side here are at fault for not maintining a calm attitude. Reguardless, I have listened to this particular controller on youtube on different occasions. He otherwise does a bang up job. Its not easy being a pilot or ATC.

Controller was talking to fast and not clear in this case is no excuse that he is busy.

In Sweden we as pilots (I'm a former pilot) have language tests in front of a ATPL-pilot who is supposed to be at least as good in English as the Ground Control. If we do not pass, we are not allowed to fly outside the Country, - inside our country only VFR. So I understand the frustration the Ground Controller has due to very poor English! "That was a QUESTION!" Had that been a Swedish pilot ? : A FORMER pilot! Me being a former pilot is due to medical issues... :-)

Ha ha. I was at LAX once on a United flight departing for Philadelphia, and a pilot on a just arrived Chinese airliner didn't understand the ATC instructions. The controller more or less said "Get off the fuc*ing runway". It was hilarious.
swva7956 (8 hours ago)
I would like to see all of the Pilot supporters try to do this man's job. You have no idea.
NETBotic (4 hours ago)
The controller has an attitude to let the pilots know it isn't a mall parking lot. No controller will ever have an attitude with you if you're doing the right thing.
pericopiosantillan6909 (7 hours ago)
This ATC guy should be sacked. The pilot may lose his focus due to the altercation and may cause a disastrous landing... ATC personnel should pack a lot of patience and correct english..
ScudRunnR (7 hours ago)
Sometimes you have to know more english than proper Aviation terms to get by... Or know those to start with...
trechan (23 hours ago)
I will agree that GND was impatient, but when you are in JFK, traffic is heavy and it is important that communication Brevity is key. If you aren't able to communicate with the ATC, then accidents are waiting to happen regardless. His job is to make sure that no accidents exist and that people are moving in a organized fashion.
mendoaiya (3 hours ago)
I can imagine how this ATC would handle a situation in a real emergency.
davetek490 (9 hours ago)
I love the fact that they both have understandably have accents, but only the controller acts like he can't understand, yet he's pissed about it ::shakes head::
mmissthangg1 (11 hours ago)
damn right i think the pilot had every right to ask to be spoken to politely. he aint no freakin kid. i understand that these atc ppl have a tough job but you can still communicate with a pilot without talking down to him. the last time i checked kids dont fly planes. and the pilot ignored him several times before he asked to him to speak to him politely. and the atc guy has the nerve to say that the pilot didnt speak to him politely either. oh gimme a break.
