Kenya's father explained it to Kenya on one of the episodes in the very beginning. Her mom's family were very prominent people, especially her father. He was very disappointed with Kenya's mom, bringing, what he felt was shame on the family. She was going to place Kenya up for adoption, when Kenya's dad got wind of it, he begged his mother to raise her. His mother agreed. Times were a lot different then they are now. A woman getting pregnant out of wedlock was a very big deal.

What's the big deal about her Mum? She is an embarrassment to Motherhood. NO matter what happened, your INNOCENT Child is all grown and doing well but yet you dnt want anything to do with her?? She is NOT worth talking about pls!

I believe Kenya's Mom may have had a bad experience herself. She too may have gone through something. Perhaps Kenya Grandmother didn't want to give her back. I'm with you. I do believe there is a story behind it that no one wanted to talk/share with Kenya about the situation.

Her father said it best she just don't like you. In her mom head she never had a baby. There something wrong with her mom mind we just have to pray

It must really be hurtful to feel abandoned and not wanted. It’s sad! My mothers mom died after giving birth to my mother and to this day my mother is in her 70s and she still talks about missing her mother whom she’s never met but she feels the emptiness. I have empathy and sympathy for anyone who is had to be raised without a parent or with a parent around .

It seems like something traumatic did happen. I don't understand how she never wanted to acknowledge her own child. It would be great if she would reach out to her daughter and at least explain why she treated her that way. He definitely talks to her like she's not important.
