Cheers. The body is made from walnut on this one, but with a Pau Ferro top. Makes it one heavy guitar, especially with the rosewood neck and ebony fingerboard... sounds quite different than a Fender, but it does have those Fender pickups in (Custom Shop fat 50's) and pretty heavy strings (13,15,19,28,39,54) which lend a nice solid tone. Acoustically, it sounds like a piano.

Seriously impressive...SRV would have been proud of you...Just for the record, this is [or was, apparently] my selmer amp., gruv's modifications notwithstanding..., so no prior claims acknowledged, whitehunter...!!!

thankyou for your very generous comment! i just tried to mainly copy the album version, albeit from my slightly sketchy memory of it... of course he probably never played it the same way twice!

this guitar is one i built out of parts from Warmoth, it has an ebony fingerboard on a rosewood neck and a walnut body with the pao ferro top. Fender CS fat 50's pickups and 13 - 54 guage strings. for anyone experimenting with wood combinations, i highly recommend the rosewood neck! it has quite a deep sound for a strat but also nice clarity from the ebony fingerboard.

Thanks. Yes the clean tone is superb. This mk1 gets crunchy at around halfway on the volume control, and sags like crazy due to the valve rectifier.. But yes, shimmering warm cleantones abound. infact I didn't discover its overdrivability till recently when I got a power attenuator. Before that I always used my Selmers totally clean with a marshall preamp infront.

The tune is Scuttle Buttin' by Stevie Ray Vaughan. There are a few tabs out there for it.

It is pretty loud clean, after half way it doesn't really get any louder, just crunchier.
