Thank you for this review. I'm a Jazz guy, and a PRS lover. So when this guitar showed up on the used market I needed to understand just what it could and would do. I don't have anything against metal but every other review I came across was heavy metal focused. Not exactly the kind of stuff to highlight nuances I needed to hear.

I use D'Addario 9's. And to be totally honest, I don't notice a difference at all, you always hear so many gear elitists that whine about stuff like that, but it's almost unnoticeable. Good luck. :)

I came here looking for 7 strings, but what you just did there captivated my brain and soul. So much emotion in those chords, so clean, and the fills are so oomph... Man, where can I listen to more of your music? I didnt know it but I needed this! Haha

How do you feel about the 25 inch scale? Do you tune your guitar down? Does the sound get too muddied if turned down?  I've been searching for a right 7-string, and this guitar would suit me really well in every way, but the scale length makes me a bit worried. If i bought this guitar i would definitely buy new pickups more suitable to heavier music, but does the guitar itself suit for anything heavier music?

Is this the only 7-string with 25 inch scale that PRS made? I cannot find others. It is quite hard to find 7 string guitars with 25 inch scale. I came across this PRS SE and the Sawtooth MAB 7- string guitar

My lowest string is an Ab. Some chords are ever so slightly out of intonation, more so on the lower strings. It gets pretty cramped up higher on the fretboard, so if you have big manly hands, you're going to have a hard time. To be honest, I really don't think this guitar fits in metal or anything high gain, I have an Ibanez Iron Label and they both have EMG707's in them now. The PRS always sounds weak, shrill and sort of muffled when it comes to high gain tones in comparison, must be the woods or construction of the guitar. Hope I helped!

So are the two bottom strings dropped to G and D? Or is it a 7-string Drop A that is then dropped a whole step?
