Don't know about earlier versions but in 4r7 you can just set one SubTool to negative, merge down, then dynamesh and it's all done :)

This method still works, but rather look into using Live Boolean in the newer versions which makes the whole process a lot easier.

I'm using version 4r7, and for every IMM brushes (like insert sphere and such), one can simply alt+brush, re dynamesh and that's all. Brush to add a primitive, alt+brush to substract a primitive. It's that simple.

very cool. thanks! for me it works without group as dynames just mark as substraction and merge. however what i can't figure out is that you can also mark it as intersect but that also substracts for me
