I'm a avid painter of miniatures of all scales and game systems, I'm constantly watching and trying to learn new techniques on how to improve my skills.

I've found that, in general, metals are better for detail and plastics are a bit cheaper. You also have to be careful about the KIND of plastic used as some types don't take primer and paint very well and have a tendency to flake. I've gotten great effects by actually mixing troops from different lines of the same type into formations. That small bit of difference seems to add a level of "realism" to the overall look of a formation of troops. Battlefront seems to have the best level of detail when it comes to vehicles. Command Decision has slimmer, more fragile guns and the details get covered easily unless you thin out the paint. I DON'T mix vehicles in formations because of the size and detail differences you so aptly pointed out. Thanks for the demo.

Aren't those different models of Sherman? Different marks had different lengths IRL.
