Under the circumstances, if I were Judge Judy, I wouldn't have dismissed the case -- requiring the innocent plaintiff to have to re-file her case in court and do it all over again -- I would simply have ruled against him and awarded the plaintiff whatever damages she was entitled to.

In this case, he could either choose having to start the whole process over again and not get paid to appear on live television, or he could choose to stay on and be humiliated on live television and not get paid for a day off from work. "What's your pleasure," is the same question, but with a positive connotation instead of a negative one.
