タイトルからアトムとアトラスの激闘を想像していたけど、アトムがほとんどエネルギーを使い果たしていたため戦い自体が無かった。原作でもアトラスと言う少年型のロボットが登場してアトムと激しい戦いがあったが、この頃は日本のアニメは暴力的という海外での批判が強かったからか、全体的に戦いのシーンは抑えられている。
