The absolute balls to end a series like this, like you have to give props to the writers for even committing to this let alone making a genuinely great scene with a strong message

2:40 if you look at the background with all the scribbles, it gets worse, it implies Howard kept going to the very end to report the news, there's no chroma key nor backwall, only one single dude, telling the news, as his final act.

The one time where 'and everyone died! The End' actually fits.

This almost feels like a creepypasta in a way. It’s so serious and straightforward. It almost feels like a joke the writers thought up one day on how to end the show and it’s incredibly melancholy

They could've ended the series with the asteroid. They could've had the family embrace one another one final time as Hell rains down from the sky, knowing that there was nothing that any of them could do - not the family, not their employers, not even their government. They could've given an ending where it was no-one's fault, except maybe just ignoring their impending doom ala "Don't Look Up".

What’s worse is that, realistically, the baby would probably be the first to die, followed by the other family members one by one until Earl (the one with most body fat) was the only one left, his final moments filled with guilt over what he did to the world and his family.

I’ve never seen any full episode of this show, but “Goodbye,” hit really hard. The fans must’ve been in tears.

"Goodnight..." the last line on the teleprompter and the anchor would proceed to go for a stolen shot of them debriefing. But then Howard realized that this is it. The last time the news could ever be reported. He raises his head and delivers the final message to his audience.
