I tried this in real life. 9 out of 10 tries i've been struct with Foam tip as practice. It takes alot of focus and timing to deflect/ strike an arrow. This is the pinnacle of ultimate sword skill put to the test.

No doubt an incredible amount of skill and precision is needed to cut an arrow mid flight. The real question is how many samurai could actually do this against a fully drawn composite/80lb+ longbow. However many samurai might be able to master this against a single archer, I would think this would be close to useless in the heat of a real battle.

I think striking an arrow to the side is better than cutting it, since a cut part can still fly at you.

People here are missing the point, it wasn't supposed to be a super deadly arrow but it is enough to puncture flesh given the strength of the bow. It wouldn't kill him because why the fuck would they do something so dangerous.

I read some comments that say, "this is staged." Even if it is, the skill to do what he did is awesome. It takes dedication and practice. I would like to see the people that call what he did "a trick" allow someone to shoot an arrow at them, attempting to do the same thing. Who downplays a skill they don't have?
