The only one who can share Aqua's darkness is Akane and that is why I believe that she is perfect for him (atleast as someone for him to rely on). Although they have broken up currently due to Aqua being on black air force energy, I think Akane is still planning a way to save Aqua in the main story arc

I love this tbh. Kana is nice and is a good character and I can see why ppl ship them but seeing how much Akane is willing to sacrifice to save and help aqua achieve his goal is just heartwarming. This may not end up well and I can see the possibility of it ending in tragedy but I still love it.
