The fact that kermit was perfectly balanced at such a slow speed on that bike shows how skilled a cyclist he is, so it doesn't make any sense that he would just hit a rock that could be so easily avoided. I think that the rock was actually a hired hitman and moved into kermits way just at the right moment to take him out.
