12:38 to answer your question, nothing happens in Mushroom Hill in the glitched mission state if you meet the clear conditions, the game just continues as normal

I recreated this bug on the switch version and got a different result. After beating the mushroom hill boss, I was loaded into ice cap act 2, with the camera locked on the top of the map. Resettling revealed I was actually in the “knuckle’s climbing challenge” mission. It’s impossible to escape so couldn’t explore any more.

16:12 I think the game is still in the state of thinking you cleared the act/cutscene, which is why the timer is not moving/changing and why you can’t be super sonic. It’s probably also why the enemies are invincible, they’re not supposed to be active at the end and sonic is in a weird state so you cannot attack them.

I think the reason why the Chaos Emerald Screen is broken may have to do with Mushroom Hill Zone and how it’s a Sonic & Knuckles Level and not a Sonic 3 Level, hence why the Hidden Palace background is used.

My favorite glitch in this game is when the marble garden act 1 boss drills into the ceiling, & visual effect of the falling rocks stay, because not only does it look kinda cool, but even though it's meant to happen, it looks like it could be

Honestly wasn't expecting the weird parallel between Sandopolis Act 2 in this state and Oil Ocean Act 2 in Sonic Mania if you skip the first lever.
