You should never be using those bleach creams and tretinoin after nor during or before a peel. Before during after, all your products should be neutral mild like cereve and Cetaphil nothing harsh. Only spf and moisturizers nothing else.

Can you purge from a chemical peel? Yes. But that’s not what you experienced particularly because your skin was good prior to this and you never experienced anything like it before (so it’s not likely that all of that was lurking underneath in the first place). You’re moisture barrier was completely wiped out and this combined with the high levels of inflammation (a peel deeper than what your necessitated plus tretinoin and hydroquinone… shocking!). It was inflammation on top of inflammation. Which lead to hyperpigmentation but also breakouts (inflammation is linked to acne; there was no protective barrier keeping bacteria out) that also leaves behind PIH. It was a disastrous combo. You do not use actives like tretinoin and Hydroquinone until the skin is completely healed. This was NOT purging.

I think the peel hurting as much during application should have been a tell to the esthetician that the peel was too harsh for you. They should apply a first, light layer for every peel, and if it’s too much for you, they should have stopped there. I got a superficial peel and it didn’t hurt at all when applying

the hydrocortisone might have contributed to the breakout as well. As hydrocortisone is very thick it may cause clogged pores as well. Im not sure why they didnt tell you to use a non comedogenic moisturizer after the peel. They should've never switched u to such strong medication when ur skin was compromised immediately after a peel. Im so sorry you had to go through this love.

Your hyperpigmentation looks like cheek contour so doesn’t look bad. When you pointed it out i thought it looked like you had some contour on. ️

Me too I was recommended the deepest peel (VI peel)as well even though my skin has a few scars. It cost over $300. I found it suspicious she didn't even bother to analyze my skin properly before suggesting me this. She appeared to be suggesting this to everyone she ancounters. I feel she just wanted money and she also didn't tell me what was in it. I will not be returning back there!

I have had 2 peels with no issues. No burning. Started peeling on day 3. I washed my face with Johnson's Baby Wash and used mild light moisturizer that contains sunscreen.

Yeah, when your not aware that youll break out, its a lil scary. If you do a Lactic Acid peel, the chemical lifts any infection underneath the skin that isn't visible. So, if your skin looks clear and use lactic acid, zits may appear. Pop em. Lactic acid makes skin smooth, i like.
