This fumble might have singlehandedly pushed the chargers out of san diego in a weird butterfly effect type of way

probably the most heart-breaking loss for Charger fans in their entire history, another one would be Nate Kaeding's missed FG's in the playoffs against the Jets

Troy Brown: "That's a nice game winning interception you got there. It would be a shame..."

Clutch interception by Brady. He knew that fumble would gift them 10 yards and a new set of downs.

As a lifelong Patriots fan this is my favorite most memorable Patriots game. Number 2 is Bledsoe Kevin Turner Vikings. Number 3 is comeback vs. Falcons in Super Bowl.

one of the worst days of my life. my team pulled the most Chargers move of a HUNDRED of them in my lifetime. up next? the colts whose ass we kicked every time in this time period. which would have meant a super bowl against the rex grossman bears and the most sure win possible.

This Chargers team likely would have won the Super Bowl, they had the #1 rated offense and #7 rated defense, LT's MVP season, and 11 pro bowl players. Despite this, Marlon McCree decided to continue the Chargers legacy of having the worst luck and fumbled their chances away.

That's one way to get a 4th down conversion.

This is the play that cost Marty Schottenheimer his job.

This was the beginning of the end (I was at this game) of what we knew of the San Diego Chargers. Marty was fired soon after this loss at home despite having the best team in the AFC. All McCree had to do was fall down.

In the AFC, the 12-4 Patriots were the #4 seed. In the NFC, the 10-6 Saints were the #2 seed. AFC was stacked as hell back then.

The 2 point conversion play was used in the Super Bowl comeback against Atlanta.

To make it worse chargers face the patriots the following season with the tables turned in the AFC championship game. Pats are 16-0 #1 SEED with the record PASSING offense. Meanwhile here in 2006 the chargers are 14-2 #1 SEED with the record setting RUSHING offense.

Marlin Jackson: That's okay Marlon McCree. I did something that you failed to do in the 2006 AFC title game against the Pats.

Okay, I get that we need someone to blame, but I don't think it's fair to say that McCree should have kneeled down, the game would not have been over, there was six minutes left, although blame him for the fumble all you want. Now, the mental mistake here was actually intercepting the pass, it was fourth down, just break the play up.
